Established in 1986, the Candelo Arts Society (CAS) is a not-for-profit organisation with a rich history and a bright future. We here at CAS believe that the arts - in all their shapes and sizes - are a vital part of what makes a healthy community.

Call for Artists – Bokeh

We are now inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from artists, makers and creative practitioners to be part of Bokeh, a community arts event transforming the Candelo park and hall into a temporary immersive landscape of light, sound and installation.

Bokeh is a celebration of place and imagination, where the artworks interact with nature, pathways, and the public as they move through the spaces. We welcome proposals across a wide range of mediums including (but not limited to) light-based works, installations, sculpture, sound art, projection, interactive or participatory pieces and site-responsive work.

About the event:

Bokeh exhibition will take place in the Candelo park and hall at night June 13th, 6pm-8pm. The event is designed to be atmospheric, accessible, and family-friendly, encouraging slow wandering and moments of wonder to light up the darkest month. Last event we had about 350 visitors to the exhibition.

We are particularly interested in works that respond to the landscape/building, explore light and shadow and create sensory or immersive experiences.

All installations need to be self sufficient in terms of projectors, speakers, screens, lights and the set up of your exhibit. We will provide electrical power. As a non-for-profit event run by volunteers, all ticket sale income will be shared equally among artists.

There are indoor and outdoor sites. If you have a specific area where your artwork needs to go, please let us know. But understand that you may not get your first preference, we will work together to create the next best location for you.

EOI closing date: 30 April, artists notified by May 15th
