12pm - 1:45pm Josh Whitworth
Home-grown Mushrooms:
Josh from Collective Cultures and the upcoming Fungi Festival, will teach you the basics of growing mushrooms, both in buckets with mulch and mushroom spawn, and out in your garden - which will improve the quality of your soil! It’s also a little bit of an experiment - he is trying to see how long he can keep the mushrooms growing….
2pm - 4pm Kara Boutler
Folklore of Plants as Food & Medicine (NOTE: this talk will include a printed zine):
Join Kara to learn about the local, edible weeds around Candelo Creek - how to identify them, harvest them, and prepare them. During this workshop, you will take a walk in and around the creek to spot the weeds and their look-alikes while Kara shares stories, folklore, and the traditional uses of our local flora.

11am - 1pm Andrew Gibbs
Rocket-powered Oven Demo:
Learn how to make your own super-efficient rocket-powered oven. In this workshop you will learn the fundamentals of a rocket stove design that powers the oven. The materials required are cheap and can easily be found. This oven uses only small bits of wood as fuel, heats up quickly and is so economical.
1pm - 2:30 Bruce Davison
The Wonders of Soil:
Bruce Davison will reveal all the Wonders of Soil - the history of soil, what soil is, how it’s created and how to maintain fertile soil for food production. Bruce is part of our Flow system at CVF, moving towards a no waste event; he will be composting all the food scraps from the festival on his farm! So, if you have questions around composting or worm farms, Bruce is the person to ask.

The Reverence of Bees:

ALL DAY Trish Castello
Reclaim the Void: weaving rugs for Country
Reclaim the Void was born from Ngalia elders in Leonora, Western Australia, expressing their pain and grief at ‘those gaping mining holes left all over our country’.
The vision is to cover a mining pit with a large-scale ‘dot’ artwork made up of thousands of handmade circular rag-rugs woven from discarded fabric.
The CVF wants to support this beautiful idea! Trish Castello, a local weaver, will facilitate this day-long workshop.
Under the Plane Tree
12 - 4pm Sharon Mason
Weaving Stories (weaving a community canoe):
Join Sharon Mason, a Walbunja woman from Narooma and the Artistic Director at Djaadjawan dancers, for Weaving Stories - a workshop to create a woven Candelo community canoe. Sit under the trees in the park, next to the creek and listen to Sharon share her knowledge and stories.
Near the creek on the Park side of the bridge.
